How To Dispose Of Used Post-It Notes
3M’s famous product, the Post-It Note, is commonly referred to with the genericized term, "sticky note". Originally, these were only sold as small yellow squares, but Post-it notes and related products are now available in a wide range of colors, shapes, and sizes.
Regardless of shape or color, they are small pieces of paper with a re-adherable strip of glue on its back made for temporarily attaching notes to documents and other surfaces.
3M found that during the deinking process, the adhesive was removed, making it a viable option for a recyclable paper product.
If you are a Borden Waste-Away customer, you are welcome to put Post-It Notes and other brands of sticky notes into your recycling. If you are not a Borden customer, check with your local recycling center to be sure that their processes can accommodate the types of adhesives inherent in Post-It Notes.
