IU Health Goshen Center for Cancer Care $19,502

from Trash Cancer Matching Program

ELKHART, IN (January 10, 2012) – Today Borden Waste-Away presented IU Goshen Center For Cancer Care with a $ 19,502 donation check for their clinical research program. This check is first year results of Borden’s Trash Cancer Matching Program.

In November of 2010, Borden Waste-Away kicked off their “Trash Cancer” program.  The company introduced pink trash carts to their customers.  In addition to the pink trash carts, the Trash Cancer Matching Fund is offered.  Interested residential customers can add a $1 donation to their monthly billing.  Borden has made the commitment to match total paid customer donations at the end of each calendar year.  Proceeds are donated to the clinical cancer research program at IU Goshen Center For Cancer Care.

“The Trash Cancer Matching Program is going extremely well.  Our customers have stepped up to show community spirit and their support for clinical cancer research” said Chris Himes, President of Borden Waste-Away.

“Goshen Center for Cancer Care is honored to be a recipient of this campaign – we remain committed to cancer research, recognizing that it is what will move us forward in the treatment of all cancers. Cancer research is what is going to find cures, make a difference, and give us even greater knowledge to help not only those fighting cancer now, but who will be diagnosed with cancer in the future,” said Dr. Alexander Starodub, Medical Oncologist and Director of Clinical Research at IU Health Goshen Center for Cancer Care.

According to Himes, customers are enrolling in the program each month.  “This program is only getting stronger with time.  We are honored to match our customer donations and to present the fund to IU Health Goshen Center for Cancer Care.  These funds will impact unique research being done by the doctors at Goshen as well as dozens of clinical trials for numerous cancers.  It is reassuring to know we have a quality organization such as IU Health Goshen Center for Cancer Care in our backyard”.

Borden Waste-Away will continue to offer the Trash Cancer Matching Fund to their customers.  Himes said his organization looks forward to future donation events to support continued progress.
