Sandwich bags are categorized as “film” or “plastic film” along with a multitude of other types of plastic bags such as grocery bags, cereal bags that don’t tear like paper, bread bags, dry cleaning bags and other food storage bags.

Potato chips are almost the number one snack food among Americans - all flavors and types.   Frito Lay sells about $12 million worth of potato chips each year.  If you break that down into about $3 per bag, that equals about 4 million bags sold per year.

Today’s cold breakfast cereals, being packaged in both a plastic bag and a boxboard box, pose some questions regarding the recyclable nature of each.
