Glass jars or bottles may have either plastic or glass lids on them, which may lead to some confusion when throwing these into your recycling bin. Should they be removed? Are they, themselves, recyclable? Will leaving them on contaminate the whole load of recycling?

Glass is one of the few materials in the world that is perpetually recyclable. The same glass can be broken down and reused over and over again — theoretically, a million times over.

Mirrors have been around in some form or another for thousands of years.  They evolved from people seeing their reflections in ponds and lakes to using polished stone and metal pieces to a process of applying a thin layer of metallic silver to one side of a pane of clear glass. This technique was soon adapted and improved upon, allowing for the mass production of mirrors.
